Z-Block is a ZScan extension that allows to bundle several 3D model generated by ZScan, placing them in a global shared coordinate system.
The result is a 3D model where each sub cloud got its right position.
All the work is done automatically in a batch process! You can optionally submit control points.
Z-Block is compatible with current ZScan software version 1 too. It requires image triples got with at least 50% of overlapping area between a triple and the next one.
Following schemas show the Z-Block triples procedure:
Z-Block module will be included into next ZScan 2 version.
Menci Software will be at Salone del Restauro of Ferrara, 2010 edition.
We will have two techincal meeting:
on ZScan and its last upgrades the 24th March at 12.30. The meeting, named "ZScan: strumento per l'analisi dimensionale dei beni culturali attraverso l'uso di immagini digitali", will be at A room, first floor, between pavilions 3 and 4.
on ScubaScan pratical application, the 26th March from 10.30 to 11.30, even A room. The meeting has title "L'impiego del sistema ScubaScan per il rilievo 3D dei sarcofagi del relitto di San Pietro in Bevagna (Taranto)", with Roberto Petriaggi, (ISCR) Barbara Davidde (ISCR) and Marco Ghezzi (Menci Software srl) as speakers.
You can find Menci Software STAND at pavilion 4, position C9.
Menci Software partecipated to Navicula Axis Project. That project is promoted by Istituto Liceo Scientifico "Pascal" and Istituto Tecnico Commerciale "Bachelet" of Abbiategrasso (Milan). The main goals are to document, support and recover minor Cultural Heritages, like chapels and churches placed in the italian countryside.
The first case of study was the "Oratorio Donato del Conte", near Monza (MI). Several different analysis technologies were applied to that church.
Menci Software partecipated with ZScan photo scanner, which generated an high resolution 3D model of church and altar.
Here some screenshots of 3D model got by 113 different point clouds automatically bundled by new Z-Block module.
The final cloud has resolution step of about 5 mm (average distance between 3D points) with about 13 million 3D points.
You can find here more info and video about the project.
Z-Block module offers an innovative bundle algorithm that allows to automatically compose several 3D models in a single result.
This sample shows a marble path, scanned by ZScan. The original fifteen 3D models were bundled by Z-Block (included into ZScan) to following point cloud.
All the works is done without use of data collected by total stations or other instrument.
ZScan Dynamic is a part of mobile mapping project that involved Menci Software in collaboration with Codevintec and NTR.
With ZScan Dynamic is possible to get an accurate street survey and elaborate data designed for GIS database.
With ZScan Dynamic, developed by Menci Software, you can georefer each point visible on images took by cameras, while car is moving.
Through that information you can measure and localize every street detail. The city contexts mapping become easier and fast.
